The Big Climb
Big Change loves a challenge and in that spirit, we got together to take on one of the most sought after summits in the world – Mont Blanc. This historic peak is the highest in Western Europe, towering at nearly 4,810 metres above sea level and it really tested every ounce of our stamina, determination and teamwork. We were working hard in the months leading up to the climb to make sure we were mentally and physically prepared for anything Mont Blanc had to throw at us and while we didn’t all make it up, we did give it our best shot.
This is the first time we have all got together for an event like this since our London Marathon Caterpillar Run in 2010 and we did it to launch Big Change. We have all played a big part in building and growing Big Change and seeing it all come together with the Big Climb is really exciting.
It was an exhausting week in the mountains and we were all tested in ways that none of us really expected. Altitude does strange things to your brain and to your body and for about a week we had to get used to operating in difficult conditions with little sleep, food, water or oxygen. That said, we all really enjoyed the experience and on Friday 7th September at about 9am, some of our group made it to the summit of Mont Blanc. It was an incredible week away and you can see more pictures on our facebook page and read about Sam B’s version of events on his blog.
We are determined to make the experience really count and we can’t wait to see the effect that the funds raised will have for the charitable projects we are supporting. 100% of funds donated will be used for charitable purposes and you can see more info about
these on the Projects section of the site.
